First, hello, I'm new to the boards though I've been lurking for several weeks. During that time, I feel like I've been given quite a bit of education from other members and for that I'm grateful. What I've learned has really helped me in my search for what my wife has termed my "forever truck". Seems like I'm almost there...

Around these parts, the LC 100's are kind of a rich, stay-at-home mom kind of truck. Yet I've always loved them and the 80's in a "I don't understand these feelings for Brad Pitt" kind of way. After reading so many great things here, and having been through a Jeep, Blazer, Durango, Pilot, and now an F150FX Superscrew, I'm finally ready to face it. I want a Land Cruiser.

Now for the help part. Been looking for a couple months. Thanks to member comments, I'm going for the 5 speed and power of a 2003-05 with lower miles, 150k max, well-maintained/documented, and no rust (did I mention my '77 IH Scout II?). Don't get on the trail much any more so conveniences are a plus as it'll be my daily. Willing to travel for the right one if the deal is right. Found a couple I'm interested in and would appreciate any feedback these or leads on others.

Haven't heard back from these folks to get any more details.

Carfax on this one has a minor front damage reported but has very good service documentation. 1 owner life in Texas. timing belt and water pump done at 90k.

Thanks.

Dude, perhaps therapy would be the place to start - Freud would have a field day... :) j/k

But seriously, "around what parts" do you live? Might want to fill in some details. I know you are looking for the 5-spd transmission, but have you ruled out the 2000-2002s? For less money, you can get a fine rig. Here is an example that I would seriously consider if I were in the market:

http://westslope.craigslist.org/cto/4836089952.html Very clean truck, it would appear, and not commanding the dealer price premium.

If you must pick between the two you listed, off hand I would lean toward the Texas choice, but I would recommend a thorough PPI on either one.

Ha. Thanks man. I'm in Virginia so prefer something this way but will definitely travel for a dry state truck. Seriously that Scout left a rust scar a mile deep.

Anyway I started looking for 2000-02 originally but was swayed by several opinions here to hold out for an 03. These two are definitely on my top end price. The one you included is more like it. Especially if there's travel and shipping involved. Another similarly priced 03 out in Kansas City that caught my eye but I need to research shipping costs.
