Hello!
I'm somewhat new here - long time listener first time caller. Located in Redmond, WA (near Seattle) and I have had my '05 LX470 for nearly 6 years and just starting to do some light (pun) modifications.

1) Did HID low beams and fogs. Went through a local company (HIDkitPros.com) and cost me about $500 installed. I know I could have done it for half the price myself, but I sat around with the kits for too long without the time to do it myself so I just paid to have it done.

2) for $20 I put in new back up lights from the same shop and they made a HUGE difference. Very easy to do myself.

3) New Tires and Wheels. Wheels: Moto Metal MO971. Tires: BFG KO2 275/70R18. I wanted tires that would stick out the wheel well about 1/2" - 1" and this setup did that. But I get some rub. After reading many posts I did not expect any rub, but I think this could be due to the wheel offset. Pictures of the rub below when doing a 90 degree turn. They also rubbed when on the freeway and I went over a small bump in the road.

Since I have less than 10 miles on the tires - should I swap for smaller tires, or try to make them work? Not sure what would be needed to make them work though.

Little more about me and my possible plans down the road:
- A family car: We ski a ton, take long trips to California, Colorado (ski), drive forest roads, haul a utility trailer, and occasionally use as a redneck tractor pulling out a stump or moving a large rock :)
- We have a huge 2400sqft shop out back that I am thinking of putting a lift into (mod get together?)
- Would be interested in meeting/joining locals for meet-ups
- Used to have Nitto Terra Grapplers (285/60R18) on the stock wheels. They lasted nearly 70K and never gave me a problem and would recommend. Just thought I would try something new with the BFG's this time.
- I may add two small light bars on either side of the license plate if I don't do a bumper
- May remove the running boards when my 5 year old is old enough to not need them
- Add rear fog/back off lights to the rear

Couple more pictures of the wheel/tire combo if anyone is interested.

I just reformed the plastic with a heat gun, which someone on the boards referenced somewhere in here. At least it looks like your tire is rubbing on the plastic fender liner like it was on mine.

Thanks! Since you did that have you ever had a problem with rubbing, or when going over speed bumps, etc?

Just a tiny bit at full lock, but nothing like it did prior - I just flattened the plastic as much as possible, it no longer has that hump shown in your pic where you rub, and it doesn't rub on the little bit of metal at the bottom, it only rubbed on the plastic. I had the heat gun a little too hot and melted a small portion but nobody really looks in the wheel wells anyway.....

Change for a nickel? ;)

Great looking LX. Did you remove the rear spoiler or did it not come with one? If you did remove it, what did you do about the holes and 3rd brake light?

What exactly did they provide/do for $500? I'm assuming it included the HID kit (bulbs and ballasts) but was it just that and installation or did they do some kind of retrofit or projector mod?

It did not come with it. I originally thought about adding one as I thought it may help keeping dust and dirt off the back window. But it is nice not having it so I can lift the window higher with the box on top.

$500(ish) was the total including the HID kit as well. They used the existing projectors that the LX has for the low beams and fogs.

Whats the offset on those wheels?
Not 100% sure. but the tires stick out about 1/4-1/2" from the fenders. If you had a wider tire 285+ it would likely be a bit more and the wheel would look deeper than the tire. these 275 tires are about as narrow as you can go with these wheels.

I still get a bit of rub when I hit a dip in the road, but I set the strut stiffness on 'sport' or the setting just short of sport and I have not yet had fender rub (less than a week though), but I likely would on a big pot hole since the suspension on these travels quite a bit compared to other vehicles.

Let me know if anyone wants more pictures of anything.
