Happy New Year All....

I am due to collect my first and long lusted after BJ40 next week but have a problem with its current tyres....they are Firestone 6.5R16C 98/97......I assume a light truck tyre but they look pretty extreme tread of my likely use.....plus a little small.....

I am hoping to raise the gearing slightly but can't seem to find/work out what the modern equivalent of this tyre would be to help me decide what to go for......and help gratefully received...

Many thanks

Dan

For those of us running the split rims in the US, very few modern equivalent sized tires exist for what you currently have. In jolly olde England you have more options. I'd suggest a 7.50R16 sized tire. Many more options are available to you there than compared to here in the States. This size will get you slightly better fuel economy on the highway and probably not require you to re-gear.

Nice rig by the way. Great color.

Thanks Nick ..... much appreciated......can't wait to get my hands on the thing!!

Nice truck Dan. I agree with 7.50/16 tires. By the way we share the same last name! Must be related somehow.

Another Groves........that is rare my friend...where are you based? Thanks for your advice too.......I'm desperate to get hold of this truck.......any day now!!

Dan, I'm in central California, two hours away from the Giant Sequoias, the Mojave desert, and the Pacific ocean. Post up pics when you get your rig.

Dave
