Hey guys,

I plan on joining the club soon and wanted to introduce myself. I am a new 76 owner, white FJ40, that you may see around the earthfare area on folly road.

When living in KY around 1999 I used to own a 78 and put an Aqualu on it and did a partial resto ,but got the itch for a unimog about 6 years ago and sold it. Regretted it ever since.

So the 76 came up for sale in Little River about 6 mos ago for a good price and I ran up and bought it.

This week I had fuel pump failure with dumpage of lots of fuel into the oil pan with consequent white smoke blowing while running -- tracking down this week if I spun the bearings or not, but I doubt it as I didn't run it that much. Per Glen's recommendation (thanks!) I'm draining the oil today and will inspect the crank tomorrow.

I've got some doors that need bodywork (cancer rust). Does anyone have a good source to help me out?

Hello Hunter and welcome. I would spell Kentucky instead of KY because KY is exactly what you are going to need for this bunch and also for the cost of body work.
I know of 2 body guys that are very good and reasonable. Limehouse paint and body on Johns Island and call Greg Monoholland 843-469-4307. He works out of his shabby house but I have seen him do some very nice resto's. he is on Johns Island at the Limehouse bridge.

weird, still can't find it, maybe i'll swing by - how far down maybank is it/what's it near?

from James island it is just pass River Road intersection and is on left side...used to be painted yellow....looks more like junk store or flea market unless you see a rig parked out front. Right on maybank so if you stop nearby and ask anyone they can show it to you but less than 1/2 mile from Foodlion and all past intersection.
 
just stopped by Limehouses and got their number. It's 559-9574. Speak with Barney. His place looks bad but does great work.
 
man, i must have just missed you! right after you replied i had left. thanks for the number! i met with barney - looks like with a replacement door skin, each door is going to be around 5-700 to refurbish. looks like i may look for a non-rust one locally instead...anyone have a set?

on the way home i also passed a green fj40 at the beginning of folly rd at windemere shopping ctr. who dat?

There are some decent looking doors for an older model 40.

I too have some good early doors, but wanted to try to match those from a 76. thanks for keeping your eyes/ears open for me.
I'd be willing to trade some 76 doors for my early set...

anyone ever think about getting the charleston cruisers together for a dinner?

I have been considering getting the LCLC members together for an oyster roast at the house out on the dock one Saturday afternoon, possibly sometime in October or November. Not sure if there would enough interest. Any Thoughts members?

On a serious note, the average person consumes approximately 1/2 bushel of oysters, some more, some less,typically YANKEES none.:hillbilly: I can supply the oysters and members supply their :beer:
If interest is there then we'll get an idea of head count then go from there.

BBQ BOY The guy who sent me this email said that he had recently installed a painless wiring harness in this vehicle and would take $100.00 to $150.00 for the harness. or $500.00 for everything seen in both links. The vehicle is located in beaufort.

Then get your ass over to my house and fix this damn thing right this time.

I'm in on the oyster roast. I have a lot of equipment for roast since I do caterings with them. So what I guess I am saying is if makes your job easier then you can come by and get it on your way to my house.
The Big Joe basket cost so much to afford you. Get it straight Mr.Clean.
