11/74 FJ40:

Which way does the coolant flow through the heating system?

When the valve remains closed, does the coolant still eventually heat up in the heater core?

How does the fluid circulate when the valve is closed?

Flow is from:
the cyl head to
the valve to
the heater and back out to
the cold (lower) radiator hose.

To a certain extent it will get warm, but mostly a hot heater core is caused by a leaky heater valve. Either the valve is gunked/broken internally so it cannot completely stop waterflow, or the cable is misadjusted.

It does not circulate w/ valve closed.

thanks fj40jim, i was wondering the same thing. i am putting a flow valve off a fj62 on my fj40 and i was hoping that the hot side was up in the engine compartment. so that works for me.
