My 98 has recently started either being hot or cold through the vents... it seems no matter what I turn it to it is more and more staying hot...

has anyone had this issue before?

is it the little rotary switch thing that may have fried and isnt adjusting resistance?

Can that be replaced alone or the whole assembly has to be replaced??

any help is appreciated...

so I am not sure if it is a blend door issue... it will be blowing cold air, then it will randomly change to hot air like it open the door and flowed air thru the core.... even though the switch is on cold!!!

bueller... bueller

Do you have an FSM? There is a trouble shooting section in there for the AC. It will give you a code through flashing lights. You count the number of flashes and then look it up. Might try that.

FWIW, Mine started doing the same when my AC was going out. I ended up having to replace the compressor because the clutch went out. When it first started I went through the trouble shooting I mention above and got a code for a bad solar sensor. I replaced that and it worked fine for a couple months then the compressor died. I had to replace it. I bought the compressor through Cool Stream (vendor on here). They had the best price at the time.

thanks... I have access to alldatapro but my a/c seems to work most the time... hahah

it works when the vent closes right... I have a feeling it is the blend door.. but I have to dig in to check.. not wanting to right now hahah

seems like it may have just been dry contact on the connectors?? Pulled it all apart and when testing it seems to switch and close/open whenever it was selected.. a/c was working perfectly today.........
