My 95 has the same issue.
I flushed my heater core. And still happens.
My rear heater works just fine. I think that it has something to do with the a/c system. My heater would be somewhat warm with the a/c off. Once I turn on the a/c system the warm air all of a sudden turns cold.
I was wondering if there were some type of servo system that controlled the a/c system to introduce the a/c to the heating system.
As for burping I don't think that that is the issue as the heating core air does get warm for the front and rear.
Is that the same issue? I'm going to try the cable adjustment in the next couple of days and report back.
