I need to install a headliner in the 45 sometime in the next 20 years so I figured I'd start doing some research...

Has anyone used Dynamat or the like between the roof and a new headliner? If it were installed very well (ie:smooth) it might help with noise and possibly the oil can effect?

Am I out of my mind thinking this might be a good idea?

I installed the foil covered bubble wrap insulation.

It did improve the hheat loss in the cold of winter.

I used contact cement to attach it and then contact again to put the liner on.

I am now in the process of removing ti as I am repairing and repainting my roof.

I used Spectrum sound deadener in my HJ45. Good stuff. It rolls on and is a latex-based product. However, it's not compatible with 3M spray on adhesive. The glue shrunk up the Spectrum and caused an amazing random pattern of wrinkles in my brand new headliner. It was flat and smooth when I finished the install. A few hours later it was an embarrassing mess of wrinkles. Be careful.
