Hi all. I have a rather (at times scary!) issue that the rotating headlight switch on the stalk seems very, twitchy! Several times now whilst driving in the dark I have flicked the stalk to indicate left or right and it has turned out the headlights, leaving only the sidelights on. Not fun the first time it happened on a dark country road!!

I have played with it and whilst firmly in the "headlight on" position, even the tiniest rotation of the switch causes the headlights to extinguish.

Is there anything I can do to fix this or service the switch? Or is it a case of replacing? I am not a technical novice but not an expert either and prefer not to tinker near airbags if I can help it!

Thanks in advance.

Replace the switch. Very easy to do. There is one brass colored screw under the column and two you can see when you turn the steering wheel left-right on the side facing the driver. Remove these screws and pry the two pieces of the column clam shell apart. Once that is out of the way, there are two screws holding the multi-function switch in place. Disconnect the harness and then reverse steps to reinstall. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes start to finish.

That is brilliant, thank you so much for taking the time to give such a detailed answer. I shall order my new switch now!

Thank you again.
