Headlight help? Are expensive Halogens worth it? Better alternative?

I've just swapped out Sylvania with PIAA Intense Whites that I found brand new for $44 for the 9006 and $49 for the 9004. I'm really wanting LEDS for front but Ive been hearing they don't have the reach of a Halogen or HID.

I recently (Dec 2015) moved up into the mountains of Western NC - headlights are essential! After a few trips through the fog and down my crazy 1/4 mile gravel road I invested in the top of the line (but not the blue) Sylvania halogens. I bought the high beams first and then the high beams. This was TOTALLY worth it and I would recommend it.

The only drawback is the occasionally someone will flash you when on low beams thinking you have brights on. You just have to have a "come to Jesus" response with your brights for a second to end that discussion.

Correctly aligned halogen low beams shouldn't appear as high beams to on-coming traffic. If you're being flashed then you have an alignment problem, maybe your next "come to Jesus" encounter will be with a friendly LEO? They love being flashed. Daniel Stern's lighting website has a good "how to" on headlight alignment.
