Hi all,

I got a set of GENSSI LED Multi-beam headlamps. I had to swap the blades on the wiring harness to get them to work, but only low beams function. I put a multimeter on the input harness and get 24V with Left and Center, and 1V with Right and Center.

I've moved the blades around to every configuration possible (I think). Hopefully someone else has run into this.

I have an '88 JDM BJ70. I found another thread for an Aussie truck, but the wiring on those seem to be 12V. It didn't seem to help me out either way.

Thanks!

The headlamps switch using the negative....most LED replacements do NOT work, since they all assume positive switching. I've got a few sets on the shelf that I've been testing for companies (with no luck yet)

Ok, that being said, I found a lead on one of the other wiring bundles on the lighting harness that goes to -24V when I flip to brights. Think that would be the ticket?

I believe Rob Smith Fabrications in Thomasville, Ga. has solved this issue. My Trucklite LED headlights had the same issue.

Can you explain further? Was this some sort of wiring change that he made, or did he come up with a relay harness of some sort?

Also, @woody, when I put the brights on, the third socket creates a 1V current as opposited to a 23.5V current, which is what I would expect.

I need to find the wiring diagram. I can figure this out. It's just a matter of switching.

@1978HJ45 - Thanks. I contacted him, but I am also going to figure this out and help the community at large, since I think this should be a relatively easy swap of either a relay or ground. It can't be as complicated as it's being made out to be.

I need to find the wiring diagram for this truck. I have one for the headlamps, but it's cut off at the edges.

Actually, @Behemoth60, my problem isn't running 12V lamps on a 24V system. My headlamps work at 24V. It's that the Hi-Beam relay won't work due to the positive switching requirement of the headlamps. I think I'm going to see what product @1978HJ45 has to offer, as it seems it might be more directly related to the issue I'm dealing with.

I've already installed my own 24->12 step-down converter and my own secondary fuse box, doing so at the alternator rather than the battery. This keeps the battery load balanced, from what I understand.

Update: I have figured out the wiring on these without use of an external relay. I moved the pins around and got both lights working normally with no other real modifications. GENSSI LED headlamps will work out of the box with slight changes to how the blades are oriented.
