Hey Mud, looking for some real time help. I'm installing a new head unit and it's a got a green wire to connect to the e-brake. I can't find where to connect it! I've done lots of searching and can't find a wire near/connected to the e-brake handle. Hoping y'all can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

What head unit? Will this need to operate while in motion (<7mph)? i.e. ( need to input navigation, turn on the rear or front camera, etc.)?
Kenwood - just ground the ebrake wire
Alpine/Pioneer - require a trigger type relay like PAC audio TR-7/TR-1 I believe
BOSS/Walmart/ Chinesium are mixed bags. some need a trigger some need relay. Hope this helps.
PAC audio has a wiring schematic on the website or you can call them and they will tell you which wires you need.

Thanks. It's a Sony XAV-AX5500. I assume it's part of the Carplay stuff.

Yeah, likely a federal mandate for software on use while in motion. These will allow you to bypass that function. It is mainly a navigation issue. I am using the TR1 on my Alpine Carplay INE-w650. Opened up all the options for use while driving. I can use Navigation, and both cameras at any time. Super useful while towing or seeing who the jackass is behind you tailgating your sweet ride. Also, allows the lockout feature on iPhones to be disabled and used simultaneously with Carplay.

Thanks Yezus - chatting with Crutchfield now as well, sounds like the e-brake wire connects on a plug in the driver footwell. Red with white stripe. Hoping to find that sucker and get this done today. Plenty of plugs down there though 😬

Come on red with white!

Were you able to locate the red/white wire?

I found a PAC TR7 in town, that was easier! All working properly with that little guy installed - thanks for the advise!

There were multiple red/white in the footwell plugs, so I gave up.

I never understood the need to repeat multiple uses of the same color wiring when making harnesses. Toyota kills me with that stuff sometimes. I am glad the TR-7 worked out. Makes other little addons super easy. Just add them on and no more guesses.
