So I am adding an pioneer app 2 radio in my 2000 LC . I am usning the very helpful link at
http://tlcfaq.com/main/2012/05/land-cruiser-lx-470-stereo-wiring/
So before I messed with the amp/speaker wires I wanted to get the headunit up and running.
I got the headunit to power up and can scroll through the screens It has located fm stations so I assume its getting signals from the power antenna that does go up and down when the headunit powers up.
I plan on using the head unit to power the front and rear speakers and let the factory amp push the factory sub,
So I have tapped into the wire harness at the factory amp the front L/R rear L/R speakers into the corresponding wires at the head unit.
At some point a non factory radio was in the car because there are non factory wires ran to the amp but they were hacked off and everything put back to stock.
So at this point do I clip the wire between where I spliced into it and the factory amp plug ? I left it un plugged and no longer got power to the head unit. I expected that because I did not tie the wires together at the amp because I still want to use it to power the sub.
So do I clip the speaker wires between where I spliced the head unit and the factory plug at the amp and leave it plugged in to get the power feedback loop < I think that is what it was called> and power the sub or do I need to leave it unplugged and tie the wires noted on the above web page If I do that will any power get to the sub ? I just thought of something else lol I dont think there is any signal from the head unit to tell the sub what to do.
Or do I just say to heck with it and pick up a 5 channel amp and go from there
thanks for any help
