BTW, found this "Idle Cool Off Time" section for turbo diesels:
Normal driving - no idle time required
High Speed Driving, Approx. 80 km/h - Approx. 20 seconds
High Speed Driving, Approx. 100 km/h - Approx. 1 minute
Hills, slopes at over 100 km/h - Approx. 2 minutes

Thanks for posting this very pertinent info, don't have a manual either... I previously set my timer at 2 min highway, 1 min normal driving, based on some temperature graph I saw on a web page somewhere... My neighbours will be happier with the shorter shutdown schedule :)

Can you share pics of your turbo timer? How does one install this? Is the turbo timer an aftermarket part? Or OEM?

Here's one that I just took a couple of minutes ago... Don't know if it's aftermarket or not, I would figure it is aftermarket...

It has a second (10 second increments) and a minute button (up to 9 minutes), plus an ON button as well. It's glued (I think) under the steering column... Can't see a brand name, though...

Basically, when the key is set at ON, it starts the countdown as soon as the key is set at ACC or OFF. The engine and all accessories such as windows and roof are powered during the shutdown sequence. That is one of my pet peeves, by the way: not being able to shut the windows or the roof down when the key is out the ingnition...

One advantage of the shut down timer: being able to let the engine run while you get out of the car to get your mail at the postal boxes, then get back in the car and leave...

PS you'll notice the dust on the thing... It's spring here and there is tons of pollen out, need to wash the car daily, it leaves a yellow dusting ever day ;)

For the botanists who wonder what pollen it is from, it's Betula Papyrifera ;)

Hi Steve, I just noticed this thread otherwise I would've told you in our other contact. I obtained a photo-copy of an Aussie 80 owners manual from Toyota Australia, its not as informative as the Japanese manual (nothing on the winch) but pretty close but this manual does not have the service intervals, that came in a separate booklet. Hope this helps. Tony

Pines are also very bad for pollen. I was driving up a road the other day and the wind blew hard across some pines - I thought there was a brush fire in the forest - it was the pollen - a giant cloud of it.

Thanks for stopping by the other day Christoph - we enjoyed the visit.

The pleasure was all mine Louis, hope to have more time on my hands next time. Give my greetings to Todd next time you see him and my regards to your wife and kids and a pat on the head of your dogs :)

Chris

what do you need to know?

i have the fsm , but i think i'll keep it and just give you the info you need :D
Where did you find the FSM? I am trying to install the diff lock 4wd control ECU and cant seem to find where it goes on my 95 JDM. Any help would be appreciated!

I have the FSM for:
1HD-T Engine,
Oz spec Chassis and Body,
US spec Wiring, and
A440F Repair Manual (I didn't know I was getting A442F at the time)

They're great for explaining what to do; but don't say when to do it... I'm really looking for the service schedules.

Many thanks, -Steve (I like manuals... a lot!)

Out of the manuals you mention, have you come across the location for the diff lock ECU? Mine is 95 JDM. Thanks!!
