Ok - feel like an idiot for having to ask, but I will anyway. Apparently there are differences between the BJ60 and FJ60 and HJ60 tranny setup and I want to make *sure* before I dive under the rig.
When pulling the H41/42 tranny on my 84 FJ60, I can or cannot leave the bell housing on the 2F motor? I've only ever yanked slushboxes in the past, and with that the bellhousing was mandatory. Just wondering if I need to take the access cover off the bottom and try to reach the near impossible top mounting bolts for the bellhousing.....or if I can simply unbolt the tranny and tc as a unit and slide back.
Already know to drain the fluids, disconnect the shafts, remove the shift linkage for the 4wd, etc, and make sure there is engine support when I unbolt the x-member. Just not entirely sure that I can get away with the minor removal, rather than the whole Monty.
Let the ridicule commence, so long as I get definitive answer.
