Have you ever busted your front differential?

No? Yes? More than once?

Now that I've answered no, I've probably cursed myself...

Don't worry, as soon as I ARB mine, I can sell you one, cheap!

NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I want an ARB even if mine is still in perfect working order. I like to wheel! :D

Probably a stupid question but whats the difference between a 98-99 and a 2000+ diff?

It's not a stupid question but one that has been discussed a few times. The short answer is 2 pinion vs. 4 pinion

Take some time and read:

http://sleeoffroad.com/newbie/newbieUZJ100.htm
Then read the FAQ at the top of the 100 page
Then the past threads

After you're done, you'll know all there is to know about your LC. If you still don't know, there is always the "search" feature.

I must admit that I was VERY nervous the last time I was out wheeling, while trying to pull (in reverse) a full-sized long bed (and built) Chevy 4X4 over a large hill that it had high-centered on :D ...I was facing him, and I kept thinking about the "weakness" in my front diff....

I spun, dug in, and even hopped all 4 wheels in reverse trying to get him unstuck...I was honestly expecting something to pop in the front end, but it didnt...I guess I was lucky ?... ;)

Nah, I don't strain it much at the mall.

Sorry I did read all that but forgot about the pinion change.

Bump, trying to get a decent sample size. At 40 respondants, it looks like a 15% differential bust rate (at least 1 time).

98-99 bust rate = 12%
2000+ bust rate = 20%
Overall = 15%

Hmm, rear locker vs. ATRAC? Small sample size?

I am guessing a way smaller failure rate then 12%. But I bet everyone who had one fail searched the internet about the problem. All vehicle boards run into this problem.

Most 100 owners have not even had to think about maintnence yet.

hoser, the problem with the poll is that just based on the numbers it looks like the 2000+ front diff is more of a problem then the 98/99? I don't think this poll is going to tell you anything of value. JMHO

Are polls open to trolls? :D
