Had a great time Thursday night. Shame we didn't get any wrenching done, but a good time none the less. A lot of cruiser talk and really good:beer:

Thanks Eric for opening your home and showing great hospitality to a stranger. Great to meet you all and look forward to meeting more of you.

Brian

but you're not a stranger, you're blackdog... on mud... and a fellow cruiser owner.
had my gas tank been full, I was seriously contemplating another surprise visit... we need a big meeting soon.

Matt, you desmogged yet?
maybe we can have a 3FE desmog party? obtain all the parts necessary ahead of time, and do them all the same day? I'm looking to do the full removal method.... got too much junk under the hood, and wouldn't mind loosing roughly 50lbs worth of CRAP

Not totally - I have removed the pump and have the bypass belt installed. I have all of the parts in a box on the bench except for the egr block off plate. I started about a year ago but couldn't get the big EGR bolt out - start with the PB on it now.

good idea on the desmog party. It all seems pretty simple, although I think it would be a lot easier to pull the valve cover to get the air rail out. And if you are going to pull the valve cover you might as well adjust the valves - which is much, much easier with two people since they have to be adjusted hot, and by the time you pull the throttle body and everything else off by yourself they are usually cold.

And might as well clean/scrub the intake while it's off.... all "busy work" and will take a good day/afternoon no doubt... but how much better would it be to have 2, 3 or even 4 3FE's all at the same time...

exponentially better - I also have a york sitting on the shelf that I want to shoehorn in there somehow, and have thought about grabbing and rebuilding a junkyard Saginaw - my power steering pump is leaking pretty bad and seems to have lost some power.

it's funny, it was too cold to do any wrenching at this last meet but it turned into a what all needs to be done to my rig meeting. My list is too long and growing by the hour.

DESMOG.......

Been really thinking hard bout doin it too. Just need to do all the research. Anybody local d-smog a FZFE?

I disabled the EGR system... yes... but never removed the stuff... it got rid of the CEL

CEL P402

The only light I get is the 402. I dont know if it is the change in temps lately or just something failing, but I am resetting it at LEAST once a day, usually more. All the threads I have read about it give no concensus on what actually fixes this. If completely disabling the EGR system would make this go away, I am all about it.

I desmogged the 3FE that I put in my 40. It's a pretty straightforward process and it does clear it up a lot of space under the hood.

welp. that settles it. Bring your '73 down for the party... we can oogle over your drivetrain and you can help us strip away the hoses!

Follow this.....call me and I can give you some pointers that i learned to make it easier.

it's mindless work... just a matter of getting in and doing it... more people there... the more I'll do it...

yeap. use a quarter to plug the manifold not bought parts needed. i just used it as a guide.

it made a big difference in my truck
