This is obviously for those of you in the salt belt. Curious as to how to evaluate a Sequoia (or Tundra) that had the frame replaced under the recall. It is an extensive job (see attached list) but they obviously do not do everything. Is it even worth considering a truck like this -- all other things being better than equal (great condition otherwise, low miles, very good price, etc).

Has anyone purchased one with the frame replaced and, if so, what was your experience? Thanks!

Who did the work ?

I am in Avon, CT and almost bought a mint 07 Tundra, 2nd gen, I know. Hoffman replaced the frame, gas lines, brake lines, fuel tank, springs, shocks and maybe more I forgot or did not see.

I wound up buying a 2015 Tundra from Hoffman because it was certified and was a Ltd. the 07 was 20K less with 98K miles which I thought was appealingly low.

Frame replacement is a big job and the sales guy said there are some mechanics that like the bull work. It takes 44 labor hours I was told. Hoffman had a ton of frames out back, all marked with the truck owners name. Torrington Toyota too. Not sure where you are from.

I am in near New Haven but Valenti in Mystic did the work per the specs above. It is roughly the same as the 07 deal you describe. Appealing low, 98k miles for an 06 1st gen Sequoia SR5. They did do alot of work but I cannot tell if what they left is so rusted as to make this not worth it.

Wife just dropped off mine yesterday, I am in the middle east for a while but I will post an update on the process,

Taking it to Thomson toyota outside of Baltimore, they are giving us a rental so that's cool, it's a third vehicle at the moment and not really being used.

Dealer said it would take a couple weeks or about 40 to 60 hours to complete?

The thing I am curious about now is how it will effect the value as I plan on selling it and getting a lx570.

2006, decent shape, rancho quick lift, 155k. Runs great. New brakes, rotate and front calipers. Timing belt done around 120k

Prices on cars.com range from 6 to 15k.
