So I am planning to bring the 40 hard top to a trade school about 30miles from me. They will be restoring the top over the next couple of months.

Dont have a better way to get it there other than on the 40, so I plan to pull it off and give it to em', then drive home via the highway, without top!

Yikes, am I going to freeze? I do have an Elmer Fudd hat with real rabbit fur, so I should be OK right?

I lived in CO and my first cruiser was a 69 FJ40 that had no top. I drove to work 3 miles everyday and froze my azz off. Bundle up is an understatement.

What about renting a truck from Enterprise or home depot or something for a day? Paying a $50 rental to have your top restored is a bargain!

I think I am going to suck it up and drive it home, approx 30 miles. Cant be too bad right? I think they are calling for like 35/40deg.

35*f with wind chill is 17*f and frostbite happens in 10 minutes

the good news is speeds above 40 mph have no additional effect on wind chill so speed your ass off.

Yup, it's cold, but here it's a dry cold:D

I've been thinking about going to the Honda dealer and getting one of those suits that plugs into a cigarete lighter.

Ah memories.........................do it, bundle up in a one piece. Your coldest spot will be your left knee...............land cruiser knee.

Thanks, I'll let you all know how it is.

Shouldn't be too bad. A few years ago I snowmobiled for a couple of days between -30F -40F (hate to think of what the wind chill was at 80 mph) and only got a little frostbite :D

Wow, I was worked up over notyhin. It was not bad at all. I hardly needed the extra coat and did not even wear my crazy hat.

Dropped off the hard top and need to finish a bunch of stuff on the 40 before returning for the hardtop and new paint.

Driving it home without the extra weight, I could do 5-10mph faster with the same amount of pedal. Maybe the aerodynamics are better too????
