What are your thoughts on the strength of a hard top's rear fold up window (non barn door gates) supporting a roof ladder like an 80 series ladder. When my hard top is on, it is too tall for me to easily get to my roof rack and I need something to climb.
Do you two get in a race to see who can rply to my posts first?
Well, that is good to know. I have been killing myself trying to figure this out. When I have my top off, my cage is like a jungle gym and I can climb up to my cargo carrier (what goes on the roof rack cross bars). But, when I have my top on, I am too short and can't really get up there to put in or take out things with any grace.
I am building a new rear bumper and I didn't really want to build a ladder into it because it would be strange when I have my top off and it would just get in the way.
Well, now I have something to work with. Would 1" X 1/16 HREW be thick enough for a ladder? I think it would at least go from the top of the roof line down to about level with the bottom of the rear fold out doors. It would only be attached at the top and bottom of the fold up door.
I was looking at that one too. I think that once I get my new tire carrier and bumper built, that would get in the way a bit. I plan on having thetire on the passenger side (a bit more in then the stock carrier) and two gas can mounts left of the tire. I should have enough room on the left side of the gas cans to put a ladder on the swing up window.

Can't do that with a 40. the rear section needs to be open to open the tail gate doors. They are noot sturdy enough or thick enough to stand on with comfort.
