Hard Starting?

Hello all,

I am having a problem with my 60. It is hard to start but always does start? I have rebuilt the carb twice, complete tune up, changed the fuel pump, canisiter, cold start valve. Not sure what to do next. I have thought about going to a Weber conversion but hate to go that way unless I have too. The other odd thing is that I hear gurgling in the fuel tank when I shut it off and it ocasionally runs on. Any ideas would be great.

What about the ignition side?

When the engine is cold, pull the choke & pump the gas 2-3 times & hit the starter for about 15 sec. Pull a plug & smell it. If you smell gas, your problem is ignition. If you don't, its the fuel system.

If there's no gas smell you might wanna check the fuel cutoff in the carb - common problem.

What is the "cold start valve" that was replaced?

Gurgling in tank is normal, related to fuel return system.

Cold Start valve, I was refering to the Fuel cut off, that I grounded and replaced. I think I was wishing it was fuel injected!
