When cold the motor fires right up. When out and about running errands motor gets up to temp and i get to where i am going turn it off, run in and come back out, it is hard to start and once i get it running it idles really rough and wants to die.

I have another issue maybe unrelated but when the secondary opens up i get a little stall or hiccup then it comes up to power. Any Ideas?

I've check valves, timing, and vacuum.

I will keep an eye on the sight glass. I am noticing no boiling effects but it seems that the fuel will disappear out of the sight glass. What would cause this? I rebuilt the carb a few months ago. This is a new problem.

Please help!!!!!!

Mine did the same thing. The PO had advanced the timing so far to make it run ok with a gummed up carb it would not want to hot start. Taking the dizzy apart/cleaning/greasing and resetting timing cured mine.

I might yelled at on this one but here goes;

On my old 79 I had the same issues. I noticed your sig has a 79 2F in your 40 so i assume you are running the electronic ignition?:rolleyes: If so, then that kind of rules out the condenser maybe going out. Had one on my rig go out a while back and had the same trouble...running fine till it got hot, then :doh:.

On my 79 rig it was a vacuum issue with the fuel travel. Also the fuel filter should be checked for clogs and debre (if you havent checked it). I had a factory fan next to the carb/ Master cylinder that I bypassed and made a switch that i could turn off and on at my leasure. Took the 2 wires and crossed them and made it blow double speed for some reason (I am sure there is an answer to that one of these guys has already come up with) and that really seemed to cure the problem. Hope this helps you out. :cheers:

Possibly it's to lean. When it's cold the carb is choked and gets lots of fuel. As it warms the choke opens and then maybe it is not getting enough fuel. Float level could be a possibility, even the starting and idle circuit. It definitely sounds like the carb to me but I'm sure others will come up with more possibilities.
