Hi all- I recently sell my Lx570 and buy new lc300 land cruiser. Love it. Question to people more familiar with this truck: is a hard shift from 1st to 2nd to 3nd normal? Any insight would be appreciated.

New owner here with 1400km on the LC, noticed hard shifting and jerking in lower speeds or traffic. Should be a software/ firmware fix.

Yeah its annoying enough to where I got Lexus corporate and engineering involved. They said its normal, we logged 2 20 minute test drives.

The programming is very sloppy. I initially thought it was low on transmission fluid but the dealer checked and said it isnt. I also replaced the tires at 4,000 miles thinking that may be it.

Case in point on the programming, you can manually upshift it to get rid of the jerky characteristics while rolling at moderate speeds in traffic, but this obviously isn't feasible to do routinely. BUT THEN, rolling to a yield or ‘california stop’ it will decide to downshift several gears while accelerating to take off with some dramatics. Very very sloppy.

It also jerks when accelerating moderately (less so if the driving surface is glass smooth), the rpms jump around without my input. I am very experienced at running heavy equipment and holding absolute steady rpm; so imagine how annoying this is to me.

I hate to say it but I build a particular high end good and we sometimes leave FU’s like this for many reasons I wouldn’t discuss online. Nothing dangerous and doesn’t affect the use. Lexus/Toyota should probably take note.

If they need to remove the Torsen center diff for a clutched model or make it 2wd optional that could possibly fix it as well. But I feel its programming related.

Anyway, other than this and it needing some refinement in the front hydraulics of the AHC while at higher speeds (bouncy), it fits all my needs.

I have the same issue along with the wind noise they say is normal as well. I use the paddle shifters if going through hilly area to keep this shifting issue from occurring
