...is a dangerous place to walk into. Holy crap I needed to hold back from: "I need one of these, and I can use one of those and this would help, and I can use that..."

Lol. a lot of that stuff looks like it's refurbished tools from the 70's....

s***, bunches of that stuff is great!

I have bought s*** that broke....but more often I have gotten much good service from the things I've bought there

Ditto, some is crap some is great value. I've bought both.
Best bang for me is my 3/4 hp floor drill press and band saw. I've used both a lot in the last few years with out fault.
I did buy a cheapy angle grinder that I used a half doz times and literally threw it away even though it still ran.

Yup.

Go buy whatever you can afford and spend the rest of your money actually building something with it. I know way too many people with $10k in brand name tools, and they don't change oil. Ive bought lots of "tool shop" stuff and most of it has been great. If something failed...no worries I can buy 10 tool shop tools for the price of a name brand.

Their cut off wheels are not worth owning.

Well, it does go with out saying, that there are several things a smart person should not buy from harbor freight....:flipoff2:

Let's fancy up the name bit. I call it Harbour Freight

Sounds more high society that way

Sheet metal shears are junk. Nibbler is great

Drill press is also a great deal

Their winches are awesome, if you're not in a hurry!

I think you can actually buy chinese people now at harbor freight. Take them home and do stuff for you.

But will they just die after one or two uses?

maybe one or 2 will, but most will work just fine. And I can buy another one for 1/10th the cost of an American. And it will work harder and I don't have to worry about it trying to sue me all the time, and spending more time on disability than working....I digress....

Plus they can duplicate anything you see that is patented or trademarked and you wont have to worry about the legal ramifications.

That is true....and they can lie about the materials they use, and they can lie about/devalue currency and economic projections and results, not worry about the costs to comply with any kind of OSHA, IDOL, or EPA equivalent, or defend them selves from armies of attorneys representing frivolous lawsuits from entitled con men....Man I should make things in China....oh wait....

Waiting on our first chinese dictator to replace our president.

What were we talking about?
