Hankook Dynapro A/Tm vs Falken Wildpeak a/t3w

Since I missed a great deal on some Coopers I am now looking at these two, 285/70 17 on RW's both "E/10ply". Use dry or wet highway 75%, dirt to rocky forest service/logging/road 15%, snow on highway or dirt/ road. I know here on MUD the Falkens have some great reports not much info on the Hankooks. They have some good review on Tire Rack. Hankooks are $100 cheaper for the set.

I also looked at the Sumitomo Encounter a/t as Sumi owns Falken but it looks like a different tire than the Falken. It's priced a few $$ cheaper than the Kook.

Thoughts?
 
Had the Hankooks on my 2015 Frontier Pro 4x. Great tires and can be had at a great price. The last 3 sets of truck tires I've bought have been the Wildpeaks though. Both great tires, but I prefer the look and performance of the Wildpeaks and the price is usually comparable, both a lot less than the overrated KO2s.
 
I’ve been using the Hankooks for many years. Great tire in snow and off road. That being said I hear the Wild peaks are a great tire and the price is right. Wild peaks look better. $100 is peanuts in the big picture. I think I’m going Wild Peak next time just for fun.
 
I've said plenty on my like for the Wildpeaks and would absolutely choose this tire again.

In my research of the Dynapros, one commendable quality of said tire was its cut and chip resistance. Especially for heavier rigs used in oil fields, its durability to abuse was standout. That said, I have suspicions that this same quality would potentially be a detriment in cold weather use as it suggests a less pliable and harder compound.

Personally, I don't need incrementally more traction in dry off-road use. Where it would be a significant differentiation for me is solid snow and winter weather performance during ski trips. An A/T tire should also be great in all season use, and is why I kept coming back to the Wildpeaks - A/T3W for wear, winter, and wet. I've had A/T tires before that had poor cold weather performance. Nothing more lame than cool tires that slip around in the cold/snow.
 
I ran the Dynapro on several heavy welding trucks for years. Great in all conditions, especially snow and ice from our experiences. Many winters in WY, MT, MN and PA. My wife's Armada just received another set of Dynapros RT10 ATMs last ones came in at 53,459 miles. I currently have a set of ATM RT10 on my FJC with no issues as well.

Hankook just released the ATM update to their AT. The rf10 is now a little bit older. Can't remember the name of them.

Hankook also owns Laufenn which I've run their AT tire and it's the same as the Rf10

99, I had ordered the Yokos in a LT 275 65 20 based on your previous post. But then I found the rock warriors and they only had 4 tires. The P Metric is what keeps me from ording these, I am concerned with punchures.
 
Is this a load range E tire ?
This says LT but I looked up on Yoko website and these are p metric. The description in Walmart should not say LT. They do make an LT version but this is not it. Walmart is 117 load rating so it is p metric. Sorry for any confusion.

Yea I saw that. It appears there are 2 versions of this tire.
 
No confusion and thank you for the link, i think its a great idea and I have waffled with getting a P metric. However, this post on another forum has pushed me to LT's.

What are the advantages of replacing your tires with a Light Truck grade tire for over-land travel? You will be taking a lot of gear and supplies with you, the weight of all this material will be easier on a LT tire on a long distance travel. It’s better to have an LT tire carrying 80% of its max capacity than a P tire working at 100%. The harder a tire has to work the hotter it will get, this can cause a tire to literally come apart. Another good reason for an LT tire is because of its more robust construction it will be better able to withstand punctures and tears while off-road, and will better handle being aired down for extended off-road trips.

To give an example of this off-road ability I was running a Cooper AT C rated Lt tire, my hunting partner was running a Mastercraft (Cooper made) AT P rated tire. Over a 3 month hunting and trapping season we ran the same logging, fire, and back roads. He had to plug his tires 3 times that season, while I experienced not one issue. He now runs LT tires. "
 
I recently got Discount Tire to match Wal-Mart's price on my Wildpeaks. The sales guy barely resisted but made some comments about how Wal-Mart adds some charges at install which offset the listed price and makes up some of the cost. DT has the A/T3Ws listed at $200/each, but matched WM's $169.
 
Are you dead set on E rated tires? There are some great deals to be had on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace for either Load range C KO2 or AT3W take-offs from JL Rubicon or Gladiator Rubicon in that size.

I might do that, discount hosed me on matching some Coopers last week so the pissed me off a little but will "prolly" go that route again.

I would be fine with "C" and I will take a look, typically the challenge there is you have the jeep wheels to sell.
 
I order the Falkens through DT and had them price match. It took about 15 mins and he kept on telling me they weren't there and the p metrics are $197.... and there is no way the E/10ply is cheaper...
 
Curious to hear your thoughts once they get mounted. Thinking about replacing the worn KO2s on my wife’s Sequoia with the Falken AT3Ws.
 
Haven't shopped tires for a little while, but I have the Falken Rubitreks on my LX. They are nearly identical to the Wildpeak as far as tread, compound and performance go. Sidewall is different. They were both the same price last year. I like them because I have never seen them on another vehicle....
