Next summer when I am ready to hit the desert, I want to have a radio for obvious reasons but I don't know what the coverage is like. If I'm stuck out in the middle of BFE and need to raise somebody on the radio and there's no mobile phone coverage, what is my best bet? I'm thinking 6m/2m or 6m/2m/70cm coverage, assuming I can get some propagation to a 6m repeater or repeater bridge. Perhaps 10m?

I got my "no clue Tech" ticket in 1997. Of course, now its just "Tech". I might even go for my general if its worth it. KC7RYS is my call.
