This is likely going to be a really stupid question, please be gentle or generous with the lube...

Is it possible to use a hand-held Ham Radio (Kenwood TH-D72a) through the same speaker/mic that a cell phone uses when connected to the vehicle?

For the life of me, I have searched high and low and could not find anything. That either means its such a dumb idea that the thread does not exist, or I suck at searching.

I assume the answer is no, and if so, I will likely look for a simple headset I can use when connected to the external antenna...

Speakers is easy, use the aux, an FM modulator. I do not know how you could hook up with the truck mic though.
The usual HAM do not have BT to connect that way but maybe times have changed now and maybe that way you get the mic to.

As above. Speaker is possible. Phone is different than radio. Phone doesn't use PTT(push to talk). So far (as I understand it) the few ham radios that have BT, use it in a noncompatible way for vehicles. Realistically, that's probably a good thing. Conversations that could go on by phone in a vehicle by passengers w/o licenses might violate the established rules necessary for ham radio. Basically, phone is private, ham radio is public.

No, unless you do a bunch of "special wiring".
