I'm looking for a good resource for HAM info. I passed the technician portion recently by taking the tests on QRZ.COM Callsign Database. The test was easy but I honestly don't know if I could even complete a call on a HAM radio! I don't have a radio yet and have never even seen one work.

I'm thinking of taking the General class exam soon but I would like to actually learn about the hobby. I can probably pass the General test too by repetition of the practice exams.

I get the feeling I am not getting the full understanding and benefit of the hobby

What is a good book to take me from no knowledge to actually understanding what this hobby is about.

Oh I would like to learn how to use a HAM radio too :)

First of all, congratulations on your ticket!

I recommend finding an amateur radio club near you and joining it; you will likely get lots of help, encouragement, and practice.

I like Gordon West's books: Gordon West Radio School :: Training Materials

Amateur Radio Study Guides

Thanks guys will look into both.
