While i'm going to be chopping up the cruiser carcass soon, I figured i'd make a set of half doors for my cruiser.... kinda like these except using the upper molding line not the lower one..... gotta leave room for speakers to be built in :grinpimp:

any suggestions to improve on that??

going to use some el chepo side mirrors from vato zone though ..... a club member pm'd me about needing some replacements..... and I don't really need functional power mirrors on half doors

I'm thinking about making halfdoors on the 62 as well. I'll only be cutting down far enough to gain visibility and freedom of movement, not so much that I can enter and exit the door without opening it. Just seems to me that if you cut too much of the door it won't retain any strength and you'll soon scrap it anyway. Also, if it's cut a little higher it can be a nice armrest.

what are you thinking??? right below the handle??

On mine, from back to front, cutting an angle in to flatten just above the exterior handle then down a couple inches forward of the handle and far forward as the door structure will allow. I'll retain the function of my door handle that way. I'm gonna cap the top with sheet metal and attach some form of padded armrest where I may lean on it. I've also seen guys put cup holders on top too. On the inside of the door I'll probably cover the open cavity with sheet metal also. I don't plan on cutting the doors down farther than my waist level while in the driver seat.

y not just go door less?
