Hey everyone!

I sell a few 100 series specific products as a small side gig for fun. I was just looking at photos of the gx470 and realized that the nav/radio unit looks very similar and one of my products may also work on the gx.

I assume you guys and galls also suffer from the limitations of the factoyr unit and the inability to easily upgrade it. If so, this product is the first stepping stone to having a pretty sweet setup.

Here is the link to the product:

Here's a link to the mud thread discussing it:

Owl Expedition Media Mount

My offer is to give one of my media mounts to a member with the gx with nav free of charge. In exchange, I request some install photos to be able to develop some basic instructions and obviously verification of fitment.

I'm going to do this as a first come first serve thing. So post here if you're interested.

Thanks!!

If I didn't use my cassette player I would be interested since my current mount is always getting bumped into by the passenger's knee/leg. As far as the instructions are concerned, do you have someone working on that already? I've done one technical writing project but would like to do some more to help build up the portfolio/pad the resume. If you're interested, just let me know.

Very cool!

If I didn't use my cassette player
Side note: what in the world do you use your cassette player for in 2018? Still hanging on to an old Bananarama single? ;)

I use my cassette player as an auxiliary input with one of those adapters that looks like a cassette. Believe or not, you can get a cassette player to Bluetooth adapter.

But if this mount works out I'll prob replace my CD changer with a Bluetooth adapter

Cassette sales increased last year by 20-30%.

Bananarama? No, the dude just wants to listen to his Credence tape, man. I find it really ties the truck together.

I was blessed with the lovely Mark Levinson stereo system with an equally wonderful navigation system. Did you know that I live off the beaten path in the middle of an empty field? Neither did I until I brought the truck home!

I use a cassette adapter as an auxiliary input for my phone so I can listen to music while feeling nostalgic. It conjures up memories of high school, using an an 8-track adapter to listen to cassettes in a '78 Camaro, while my friends were listening to these new CD's in their much newer - but massively less cool - vehicles. My 383 powered beast laughed at the feeble noises which came from the likes of Volvo 240Ds, Nissan Sentras, and the ever popular Honda Civics. It also reminded me of the time my ignition switch went out and I had to use a screwdriver across the posts on the starter solenoid to start the car until payday came around. That was slightly embarrassing.

All kidding aside, I wanted to get an adapter to wire in an auxiliary input but my Amazon experimentation was a dismal failure. I suffer with equanimity, patiently waiting for an Android-based solution to appear on the market, or for boredom to set in and trying to discover some way to swap out the HVAC controls which has yet to be discovered.

Have you looked into getting a Nav Map update from ebay? In my '09's, all the forest service roads and some trails around Big Bear and around the Mammoth area show up on the factory Nav.

Update*

@Dharma Dude was awesome enough to install the mount. It fits, but not really. I would need to modify it slightly to give enough room around the ball for ram arms.

So the next questions is: is there enough demand for a modified mount to make it worth doing a run?

Ive sold a large number of these on the 100 series side, but I don't know the wants and demands of the 120 GX guys and gals.

Let me know if you'd buy one if it worked, and I'll judge based on responses.

Thanks!

I'll put my name down as interested, assuming it is around the same price as the 100 series mount.
