Hey Guys - New to the forum and looking for some advice.
I've been on the hunt for a GX470 and came across one locally that had the engine replaced. From the sound of it, the lady who owns it ran the engine dry of coolant and blew the thing up. They replaced it with a used engine from a totaled GX470 with 93K miles (Chassis has 150k), I was able to talk to the mechanic that did the work and he sourced the engine from a salvage yard out of LA.
When installing the new engine they replaced the radiator, hoses, spark plugs, and intake manifold. But they did not replace the timing belt and water pump, which surprised me since the engine had 93K miles. The reasoning from the Mechanic was that since the engine has a 6-month warranty he did not want to pull them out and replace and possibly void the warranty.
Everything else about the truck looks good, she is the second owner and bought it when it came off a lease and has all the service records for it.
Should I run away from this thing or is an engine swap not as big of a deal as it sounds?
Thanks, everyone.
