He,y folks,I just upgraded (?) from my lx450 locked to am ‘06 GX470. My ?…first - where in the H**L do you put your personal stuff?
second- where does one obtain the proper gas strut for the rear door conversion? In Rocklin,Ca.

A few aftermarket solutions exist like a magnetic phone holder from scosche, another one for the walkie talkie, door pocket storage trays, cup holder insert, and a variety of metal molle brackets/shelfs/panels to organize gear all around.

And not everyone likes the gas struts for the barn door.

The GX is short on interior storage. I use a combo of the OEM center consol, every single one of the door pockets, and the glove box. I also removed the DVD player and made a cubby in it's place out of some sheetmetal, which provides some additional storage as well.

FYI I've had the rear strut mod for almost 2 years and like it a lot, and can't imagine going back to the OEM version. Some folks have removed it though. There is a thread on here somewhere the lists the part numbers to complete it.

Here is an article with the parts needed. I intend to do this, coming from a 3rd gen 4runner I love the side opening but I don't like having to push and pull the bar.

Done, found the strut- converted pinch bar to the strut. Like
and removed the DVD drive and fabled a bottom for the cubby- like very much. Anyone looking for a dvd drive for there GX?

I was able to sell my DVD changer for $75 on eBay after I made a cubby box.....so there is somewhat of a market out there for them.
