Very happy to live in a "grey state" with low taxes, low cost of living, decent wages, cheap gas, and tons of public land for outdoor activities (including wheeling). But please keep out - we also have lots of poison ivy, humidity, tornadoes, hillbillies, and rednecks :). I left here for a few years - to Texas - and came back as soon as I could. Too flat, hot, and too much private land.

It's honestly sad what's happened to the West. There seem to be very few "normal" mountain towns that haven't been totally taken over by out-of-state folks and priced out almost everyone. It's all becoming a giant playground for the rich.

North Arkansas 🙃? I think North Georgia or WNC is my eventual landing spot.

AR is great and very outdoorsy but has a bit more oppressive of a state government, in terms of personal freedom, than we have just to the north :). MO is a nice mix of southern and midwestern culture without being too far in either direction.

I'm just going to plug a little place called Alaska. It's declining in population so you'll never feel crowded. We desperately need working age people. Especially skilled trades. Sure it costs $1500 to ship a $900 pair of sliders up and gas is $5/gal( when it's cheap). But I literally catch salmon barehanded in the creek summer and I can buy a half section of forest for less than a gx. Plus with global warming in the next 50 years you might get three more months of horrendous mosquitos!

Really selling it to me.

I am so glad I could not afford any of these new vehicles...
My one and only son attending USC might be a reason, maybe he'll buy me one when he gets his dream job.

Yeah, me too. I grew up in Florida and miss the ocean but not the state anymore. Missouri, where I've lived for the past 30 years, has a nice balance if you can avoid living in KC or St. Louis.
I'm close enough to STL that I can have a well-paying WFH job and go into the office sometimes, but still be within 30 minutes of lots of awesome hiking and 45 minutes of great wheeling. Very fortunate that I've been able to make it work living here instead of being stuck in STL/KC or having to move to a crazy-expensive popular metro.

Good luck. You may have already missed the boat. Asheville home prices have doubled. Cashiers and Highlands, Linville have all become a place for the rich and famous.

I know, I saw the crash in 09 when you could scoop up property in Highlands on the cheap, then the covid rush back to the area that drove everything sky high again. Holding out hope for another big washout in 10-15 years. North Georgia offers alot of the same outdoors stuff that I enjoy without the NC prices for now it seems. We go up to WNC about twice a year every year, keeping an eye out for one day down the road.

It’s too bad you can’t get a 3 row tow vehicle with higher trims
The fact that Luxury and Luxury+ have lower tow ratings is annoying
You have to choose between trim/towing and 3 rows
The Overtrail+ only has the 8k towing and higher trims (like premium sound!)
But overtrail is only 2 rows, and no captains chairsv:(

I give them a C- for the way they did these trims
Maybe the hybrid will be better
lowering the tow rating on higher trim levels.. annoying

agree - ordered Overtrail but really want keyless + upgraded sound
thankfully HUD is available across all trims (hoping for a good HUD)

Very keen to see this Brown Sugar Metallic color. That could definitely be my choice. I assume the color being cut off at the edge of the sheet is Meteor Shower, which I also like.
