hi all. For those familiar with GST, i understand the LC invoice prices are higher than other parts of the country. Is there any added mandatory equipment that cause the inflated invoice prices, or is it just GST fluff added to the price?

GST and SET both add lots of fluff to their LC's to inflate their pricing. GST and SET are known for doing this stuff.

GST do get a lot of underbody rubberized material over body seams. It definitely keeps corrosion down and is very long lasting. My FJ is 11 years old now and the rubberized coating shows no deterioration. It's more resilient than Line-X, and has handled every grim this country's roads can through at a car.

What type of material is it? Midwest winters really take a toll on vehicle frames. Had a kerosene based underbody done on my 2018 4Runner and it did nothing. Might be worthwhile to purchase a GST Land Cruiser and have it shipped my way if that's the case.

I knew the GST and SET regions were higher, but I figured it was just the PIO they added to get higher prices. Nice to know they do add a special under carriage coating, I wonder what it is and can it be done in the North East, lost of road salt here.

The lanolin-based fluid film does wonders to protect against rust. Apply it annually in the fall. I need to take a photo but looking at the bolts on my sliders 4 of them had fluid film and two were missed. The 4 that were filmed were still silver, while the two which were missed are rusty.

As an aside, everyone should coat their KDSS screws in marine grease each fall. I applied a glob of it on mine each of the last 2 winters and I just checked them last weekend (which is when I noticed the bolts in the above paragraph) and the KDSS screws are pristine.

Stupid Chicago road salt...

Good to know that at least you get something from the higher priced GST LCs. Glad it’s not just a “because we are in a different distribution area” upcharge. Thanks for the feedback.
