Rising Sun is performing a bit of a public service and we will attempt to break trail over this coming Saturday, 2/3.

the reason....the Elephant Ride, The World's Highest. Coldest and Dumbest Motorcycle Ride.

and those are their words, not mine.

Meet at 9 AM at Grant, on US 285. 33's and chains are highly recommended, but if you don't have that, come along anyway, just bring a good strap.

rumors are we'll have to get over a 7' berm before we even start :D

more info on the elephant run for you motorcycle folks
February 10 and 11, 2007. Come to "The World's Highest. Coldest and Dumbest Motorcycle Ride". The second weekend in February. Grant, Colorado, on the Platte River. Camp out at 9000 ft., camp fire, ice races and rally lies Saturday night. On Sunday, ride over Guanella Pass, 11667' elev.
We're technically challenged, couldn't put up a web site if you put a gun to our head, and we are way too old to learn how, but not too old to have some fun on motorbikes in February.

Be a wuss and ride your dual-sport bike, or amuse us and bring something interesting. Put ice screws in your knobbies, or run the pass on bald street tires. Everyone's a hero.
NO WHINERS!!! Check the Photos and Files sections to get a flavor of recent rides.

;) don't think the motorcycles are going to make it very far next weekend.

had a blast even though it was butt a...cold today, and the wind was whipping. most gusts in colorado were 55-70mph, with some up to 109mph. don't think we hit the highest of the gusts, but some were downright nasty, and it was not that warm.

the snow doesn't look that bad, but incredibly deceiving. we were running on an easy 18+" of powder snow, that just filled in the tracks as soon as you rolled through.
