Mark your calendars folks! GSMTR is back with an all new venue, new trails, same great people, spectacular vendors and huge raffle.

Bring the whole family for an entire week of wheeling (4WD/MX/ATV), cruiser talk (tall tales), good food, competition, great vendors, swap meet, and more.

This fairly new +500 acre facility features 4WD, ATV & MX trails, a couple fishing ponds, ample tent camping and RV sites, children's playground, a huge pavilion with 4 smaller pavilions, 5 bunkhouse rooms that sleep 3-4, real bathroom facilities (no portajohns) and lots of open grassy lawn space for field activities.

OK wheelers...ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!!! >>>>>Upstate Cruisers » GSMTR 2010 Registration

Matt Stell and the Crashers played at the Roundup, great band!

Anyone up for this trip? How many from Iron Pig are going?

It looks like you can add myself and Mary Marshall to the list, She is really up for all the 4wheeling this year! Gotta love it! We will not get out there till late thursday but will wheel friday and saturday.

We did a pre-run this past weekend. It's a beautiful park with a wide variety of trails and lots of potential for the other activities. I've got almost 2 hrs worth of trail video that I'll post up as soon as I can. For those with stock-ish vehicles, not to worry. There is plenty of areas and loops that you can do with out scratching your rig. I'd recommend at least 31" All-terrain tires.

We also ran over to Burgess Falls State Park and it's amazing! Spectacular falls and a very nice hike (shady and cool). Best part is that its free and only 15 minutes from GMP! The pictures I posted before of the falls don't do it justice. The big falls are about 200 ft tall, which is hard to tell from the photo.

Trails were a lot of fun and there is a great variety of difficulty for everyone. Lots of videos of the crazy wild stuff are easily found on YT, so I decided to record some of the milder trails. Here are a couple videos of trail 1, which is the main loop connecting all of the other trails. Its not a walk in the park for stock rigs, and will require some attention to what you are doing.

Part one of trail 1, starting at the main entrance and going up the mountain.

Part two of trail 1 near the top and going back to the start. You'll notice the MX trails off to the right as we are coming down the last leg.

One of the harder trails we went up is Trail 32. What's nice is that trail 34 runs parallel to it so you can bail off the rocks if needed. We only went up the first obstacle, and by we, I mean I winched over this hump and Brian eventually wheeled over it. Then we hopped on Trail 34 for a steep climb to the top.

OK, this video picks up where we last left our intrepid explorers in the above video...
...At the bottom of trail 32. We hopped over onto trail 34 and bounced our way up this steep climb. I didn't even see that last stump we rolled over near the top, it's that steep. I gotta figure out a way to have my camera hooked up to a monitor inside the cabin, so I can see what's down there in front of me! :)

And this is back on Trail 12 (at top of 34) and rolling into Trail 11, a fun rocky climb.

I may try to swing this trip. Any specific dates between to 7-13 June time frame folks are going?

Activities tend to ramp up near the end of the week. So far I know we have the catered meals on Friday and Saturday nights. The raffle is Saturday night (must be present to win). And the band is playing right after the raffle on Saturday night.

Other things like sponsored competitions will take place later in the week too, likely Thursday and Friday.

Side trips to Burgess Falls will be at free will, but thinking we might try to organize a picnic out there on Tuesday and Thursday.

Mr. Bloo, I am trying to make it out thursday night, wheel friday and sat, come home sunday.

I still need to register, just waiting to make sure I can go!

Rob

I'm thinking the same thing and in the same condition. I'll have more granularity by this weekend.

Only 6 weeks away...
The itinerary is starting to shape up:

Monday is opening day; open wheeling.
Tuesday plan on picnicking at Burgess Falls; open wheeling.
Wednesday open wheeling; pick-up ball games or horseshoes.
Thursday, catering truck rolls in and will vend meals and snacks (bring cash); open wheeling; games/horseshoes competition; swap meet and vendor show
Friday wheeling competitions begin in certain areas of park; catered dinner (meal ticket req)
Saturday wheeling competitions may continue; open wheeling in other areas, catered dinner, raffle, live music
Sunday pack up and roll out.

Leave slip, at current job, has been submitted from 6/4 to 6/11. Will be taking a trip to MA with the wife and dogs 6/4 to 6/6. If all goes well, should be heading to GSMTR 6/7 or 6/8. Subject to change if employer changes.

I'm cleared hot for 9-13 JUN. Arrive 9 JUN PM, depart Sunday 13 JUN. Where is everyone (BBRC/IPOR crew) staying/camping at?

Jester, you taking "der grosse weiss walfisch?"

"Come on boys. We don't want any trouble in here. Not in any language."

"Evidently Mr. Bloo's an educated man. Now I really hate him." :D

I am planning on leaving at ?? on the 10th to head down, should be there before sunrise on the 11th ready to wheel, Drive with one hand, chugging Red Bull with the other. As far as where we are camping, Well wherever you guys leave me a spot is where I will show up. At least I have been there before so I know the area... like that will help at 3 am???

Tim M. Classic movie line for sure! I think I have that on VHS if the Whale has a vcr, we can watch it in camp.

"...why Johnnie Ringo, looks like someone just walked all over your grave... play for blood remember?"

" Why I was just messing around."

"I wasn't!"

We'll have a dvd player, projector and big screen at the main pavilion. Hell, I think I have that one in my collection :D

Y'all bringing RV's make sure to contact the park to reserve a hookup site.

Now all that needs to be answered is who is going to be my "huckleberry?"

Excelltent Jester. In my advanced age I've grown accustomed to certain comforts in the field... knowing that the GSMTR event has at least 6 male-designated sit-down crappers and that you're bringing the Battle Cruiser with its integrated waste-mangement system means I don't have to bring my bucket. Yeah, so I hope it's up to the task too...

Will the Battle Cruiser have the Land Cruiser in tow? I understand the torque is strong with that one, young Pada-wan.
