Ouch.... map quest is giving me 6 hours and 40 minutes, no way I can maintain that speed though the hills though, and with hwy 40 closed most likely it will be a lot longer.

Hoping to go but the drive and lack of days off of work may hinder that:frown:

C'mon now, it says over 8 hours for us guys down in the Lowcountry:steer::steer:....but I'll be there:cheers:

Not really the hours that bugs me..... i've driven 20 straight before just stopping for fuel.
Its the fact that I don't have much time to be able to take off of work. Driving to GSMTR friday evening at tellico was feasible and then one day of fun and back again on sunday. That was ok
Driving what, with 40 closed will be close to 8hours with stops to TN on friday night and then being too tired to wheel for most of saturday and back on sunday is a no no for me.

Now if I can get just that friday off i'm all for it and game.

You know thailand is starting to enact more laws against that stuff in Bangkok now Brian..... better cut that back a little bit. Don't want to end up like david caradine :flipoff2:

Ah young grasshopper, you know Costa Rica does the same stuff as Thailand, and it's much closer....

This year's GSMTR is getting better and better! We have secured the southern sounds of Matt Stell and the Crashers for Saturday night! This is going to be a great show guys and gals!

Rick -

On the registration it asks for the # of additional vehicles and says to adjust the quantity of registration fees accordingly and it says that a $35 driver's registration is required for each full-size 4wd vehicle. Just to clarify as I doubt this is the case, but if you're towing to GSMTR, you don't have to pay for both the wheelin' rig and the tow rig, right?

You are correct, tow vehicles don't count. Neither do any non-wheeling type vehicles. However, extra vehicles driven by a 2nd individual will need to pay $25 for the whole week.

Example: you drive your tow rig and trailer your 4Runner and your girlfriend drives her Mustang...you would pay $35 + $10/day for the tow rig and 4R + $25 for the Mustang.

You have to pay for non wheeling vehicles you take there??? Even if you are all in the same camp site?? Is that just a park entry fee or something?

Not tow vehicles, but extra vehicles. Basically the park is going to charge $10/day for each wheeling vehicle and a lump sum $25/week for extra vehicles. Each vehicle entering the park will be tagged with a sticker for exit/re-entry during the week. It's the only way we can keep the park to ourselves and keep track of who has paid. Remember this is set up quite a bit differently from Crawford's and Tellico - the trails and camping are all in one "enclosed" area.

This all became apparent to us when one person tried to register him and his buddy as "drivers" at the same time. He thought he could register himself for $35 and his buddy would only be an extra $10 per day. Our shopping cart is not set up to register more than one "driver" or "family" in a single transaction. So we had to make the distinction between a driver registration and a guest following the driver.

Hope that clears things up.

I think i'm going to have to miss this one. Current finances and time off work only allow for one big trip a year and i'm doing that for the STR at the end of this month.
