Is this a proper ground for an aluminum radiator in a 62? Just making sure it’s ok over both those brackets.

Measure the voltage difference from your fluid while running to the negative side of your battery. Anything over 0.3v is bad, and you really want under 0.1v

Just make sure the frame is grounded well if you use that spot because frame grounding is a 3rd class citizen on these vehicle. Body ground is king.
The radiator ground wire could be 18AWG and it would still be oversized. Its purpose is to prevent electrolysis. The current flowing through it is not even measurable.

Agreed, I ran ground straps between battery, frame, body and engine

Ahh I see so frame isn’t the same as say the body fender? I saw those spots in another members photos so I just kind of went with it without thinking much beyond they are both metal. I’ll take a peak around and see if theres something else convenient. I don’t think the radiator shipped with a strap, or if it did I didn’t catch it.

I’ve had fun with aluminum boats n salt water. There’s sacrificial anodes so aluminum isn’t eaten by the seawater, the natural galvanic corrosion. My understanding steel isn’t allowed to touch the hull, an old steel bolt that falls in the bilge will start eating the aluminum.

Asking because I don’t know and am curious. Grounding an aluminum radiator to the body or frame: what exactly is the goal? Why won’t the steel pull from the aluminum if it’s bonded? Shouldn’t the bond involve an anode?

Ground bonding should be done with am internal star washer between the cable lug and the attaching bolt. This allows proper contact bite between the two surfaces.
