You don't need the cover for it..I have had mine for 11 years, exposed to the sun and elements, no issues, looks good as new! I did replace my wood slats on the nest with some custom aluminum bars and they look great. You may not need the grill gripper...I manage it with the ash tool, or you can use a pair of channel locks. Get 2 bags of charcoal, you'll use it..I always seem to have a an extra bag on hand at all times...also pick up some different wood chips, I use a lot of hickory, pecan, mesquite. I dabble in the fruitwoods, alder, grape, and others as well, depending on what I am smoking or grilling. The probe is not a bad option, while I have one, I rarely use it though.
