Hi guys
Looking at a map here, the trail in Staircase - Escalante NM from road 89 northbound to Cannonville, UT, through Cottonwood Canyon, Grosvenor Arch and Kodachrome Basin looks very yummy. Anyone been there? Suitable for a loaded but stock 80 with a not-to-be-too-bounced baby inside? Thanks n' cheers Grolar

Kodachrome is a Utah State Park. It is an island within Grand Staircase. It is a great place to car camp.(hot showers). There is a lot to see their, I go to Kodachrome once a year. Not for the great wheelin, but just to hang out.

Two years later... I finally drove it! I beg to differ with the Honda Accord comment, as the first part of the road, from Big Water through Cottonwood Canyon, is sometimes sandy, sometimes very bumpy and with lotsa treacherous, sharp stones. Nothing a 2WD can't do, but a somewhat high clearance vehicle would be recommended IMHO. And I'm happy I didn't try that run on wet conditions as the riverbed must be very muddy after a t-storm. The northern part, from Grosvenor to Cannonville, is straight, quite flat, and Aveo-driveable.

That's all I have here for now. I really like that place (and Southern Utah in general):

Another one, down south. The trail there was potholed a lot.

And near Grosvenor again:

Sorry to hammer you with those pics but I love this place. ;)

Looks familiar! Great conditions dry...Terrible when it is wet!
