Just wanted to get the thoughts of others.

When it comes to GPS devices and wheeling. Would you rely on the on-factory navigation or go with a third part device anyway?

Thanks

Like Loud says, there is a lot of good info in the "electronic toys" forum within Mud. I personally like a device that is portable. They are also typically cheaper to upgrade software on. There are a number of off road specific units that will do far more than the factory unit can. Good luck.

Go with 3rd party ...

1. switch between vehicles
2. easy to upgrade/replace
3. cheaper

Personally I would go 3rd party. You have so many more options if you take this route, from maps to software to interface, etc.

I love using my CF-29 Toughbook set up on a RAM mount, paired with a USGlobalSat GPS receiver and TOPO 7.0. It is so easy to see the screen at a glance and the touch screen makes it easy to navigate through the menus.

show-off! :flipoff2:

I ended up getting a Garmin Oregon 400T....going to try some Geocaching!
