I know it's not a big deal to about 2/3 of the country, but for those of us in the midwest, it was pretty cool.

Literally pretty cool. It's amazing how much more tolerable 41* is after Thanksgiving than in September. It was probably the last chance for a ride. It snowed today and more tomorrow. From here on out there will at least be a lot of salt on the roads. :crybaby:

I know, I'm still riding my Yamaha and it's 60 degrees today  We are less than 30 minutes from the mountains, no snow on the ground and 60 degrees on December 2. At this rate I"ll be able to ride 10 months out of the year.

The only time I park my bike is if they have not yet plowed and sanded. Otherwise it's game on. Fella I know just studs up and carries on as normal... and he lives in Fort McMurray (Way up north)! Makes me look soft core!

apparently I spoke to soon today. Wasn't snowing this morning :D

:) thats funny on many levels...#1 if you've ever driven a TW200 it's definitely not about the POWA!

I noticed they are pretty big over in Japan, trick them out to custom. Here are some modded TW's...

Yeah, I see them (the newer versions) customized fairly often.

It's great that you can get 80mpg!

I rode last year every time it was above freezing, but it never got warm long enough to be dry and I got salty water all over the bike. This spring's big clean showed all kinds of places where the post ride wipe down missed. I won't be doing that anymore.

Electric gear. The best is made by Gerbing. With the jacket liner and gloves I would go down to mid 20's if roads were clear. Once they laid down the salt, I opt out for the winter.

That's with full face helmet, Applewarmer neck cover, and freezersuit outer.

Now that I'm an old man, 40° is my limit. I'm out this season anyway, due to foot surgery.

Ya. Salt is a bitch. I wash and spray my bike with jigalube. It helps some, but the salt always wins in the end. I consider my bike transportation and toy. Helps make the scuffs less painful.

Shoot....

It's got to be 20 or 30 here in Trashville. The high was I guess @ 30, and the sun's gone down...so, ?

:D

One T shirt, one Merino wool zippy, a leather Joe Sprocket summer jacket I scored on CL for a $20, the two layer saftey yellow i linked in the Nx650 thread, some walls over-alls some walmart genaric wanna be ski glove specials, and and a fleece scarf under ma helmet with the "Ninja knot" in it....

AND SOME WOOL SOCKS!!! =

I may be wrong but it's the small scratches salt makes when it comes in contact, and when it it's washed away with cold water that cause corrosion.

I used to live near the beach in NC, and a guy said he and his buddies would take a garden sprayer and spray the undercarriage of their 4x4s if they were gonna drive on the beach that day.

He said the salt wouldn't even stick to it. And if it did, the oil was another barrier the salt had to go through b/f it touched the paint on the chassis.

Two things, actually three things I'd recommend.

1, Spray down with an oil b/f you went out.

2, Spray off w/ HOT water only, to dissolve the salt. So that the salt won't scratch the surface as the tiny crystallized particles run down the surface. And that any places where water collects, won't be places where the undissolved salt collects.

And 3, Oil it again after the hot water rinse. I know the front half of all my trucks are rust and corrosion free :grinpimp: Oil leaking bastards!

SOME, car washes have hot water, and if you live up north a Steam Gene is a wise investment anyway IMO.

18...and feels like 6 here. And I'm on Deathwings! :D
