Picked up a BW200 Project because I need more things to distract me from my slow progress on my other projects. Engine crank case is damaged, front forks bent. missing a "few" parts. Started on the rust repair, and general rust treatment, rebuilt the wheel hubs as well as the jack shaft and the head stock bearings. Put on some new, and slightly larger tires because of availability.
Flushed a bunch if gunk out. Prelubed the top end. Too tired to keep messing with it today. But making progress. I am going to have to dig in to those rear shocks at some point .
Gonna put some lipstick on that muffler with the welder. Make a new bracket for it and hopefully not have to get another muffler. She must have spent a lot of time in the bushes.
Well I have spark now and she runs when sprayed so I need to clean up the wiring and tie it down. Worked on the seat and going to be torquing stuff down while putting the chains on etc. Can't work on it this weekend due to work but feeling better that I can probably get it going soon.
Well she started on the 4th kick. Need to get several things done still but did 4 oil changes and 4 warm up cycles and still getting organic mold looking stuff coming out. That's ok though I'll keep doing it until it comes out clean.
Have been mostly focused on getting the pickup running and on the road, but did take a moment to give the BW a test ride. Here is my buddy riding it in his back yard, it still needs carb adjusting as it bogs a little and seems to be running rich from my interpretation of the plug. But here it is, still fenderless.
Put some temporary headlights on it. I have a factory light but not really what I want for it. I have some freedomcycle cam bushings for the rear swingarm that are next up on the agenda.
Trying my hand and abs plastic repair. The back fender was broken around the holes and the previous owner used fender washers and tub/tile sealant. Liquefied some abs in acetone and reinforced with metal mesh. Seems to be pretty hard now so I went a head and painted the fenders with epoxy flat black and Clear coat for wheels to give it some uv protection.
Running pretty well. I don't like twist throttles much so I might find a thumb throttle that isn't horrible. Lights work and plastic is there. Since the rear tire is so large I might add a link to the chain so I can adjust back a bit more but it may stretch enough for me in time. Or the little new tire nubs will just break off and I won't hear them touching the frame.
