I bought 5 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors in 285/70R16 size.

Here is what Goodyear says about it:
Wrangler SilentArmor
Rugged Tire With A Smooth, Quiet Ride Premium on-/-off-road tire that helps deliver great traction and ruggedness. This tire emulates the hard-working capability of your truck, providing strength and toughness, as well as a smooth, quite ride.

I am very happy with these tires. They are quiet, smooth and grip very well in the dry and wet. I will have to wait until winter to see how they perform in the snow.

MTR versus Silent Armor according to Goodyear on a 1 to 10 scale (10 best).
Dry Traction
7 vs 9

Wet Traction
6 vs 9

Snow Traction
8 vs 10

Quiet Ride
4 vs 8

Off-Road Traction
10 vs 9

I have them in the same size. I love them. They seem to be pretty heavy for an AT and the MPG's feel it though. They are GREAT in the snow! IF I were sticking with AT's and not moving up to 315 next go round, I would buy them again in a heartbeat. I have also wheeled mine all over Southern Cali with awesome results.

A friend of mine has a set on his HDJ81 in 285-75-16; he's used them extensively in snow and ice of various forms and they are outstanding.

Yeah, I've got these in a 305 (they were 20 dollars cheaper than the 285's when I bought them) and I agree they are a good tire. Great in the snow and I've wheeled them at Raush Creek a couple times with good results. Pretty quiet too.

Cool. Good to know. I've narrowed it down to these or the new Michelin LTX A/T 2.

Exactly how silent are the Silent Armors?

I want something super quiet. I'm taking my MTs off just for that reason.

I don't hear or feel mine. Honestly to me, and I don't pay much attention, they are no different than the stock LTXs

I don't think they are as silent as LTX. They are a bigger tire with a bigger tread pattern. The LTX is a really good street tire. The Wrangler Silent Armor is a very good all-terrain.

I have the Silent armor in the 305 size too . Love them. was suprised at the quietness on the street and the toughness on the trail. i'd get them again in a second and have recommended them to others. ENJOY

I love this tires but my wife (LittleBoss) does not like the look of them. The traction is very good better them the Toyo MTs on rock.

But I am moving to 35s and I'm selling them 305/70/r16 5 at $800 like new if you want some.

Ok, it is now winter and I am very pleased by their snow performance. The tires don't seem to get cold and harden up like my BFG ATs. I have yet to feel any slippage on packed snow, or deep snow. As far as I can tell, they seem like the snow isn't even there, but then again, I am not stupid to push the limits in snow either. :)

People seem to follow the herd (see: Revos)...and I decided to separate from the pack and get the Wranger Silent Armors... and I am really happy about them! I would get them again in a sec, but then they seem to be wearing slowly....

i agree.

i wheeled mine up the steep and rocky Colorado Kelly Flats 'heart attack hill' and they did well

so far the snow in colorado front range, they have had good predictable results on the dry powdery and the packed ice... did good when we went up Rist Canyon to get the xmas tree.

i will odds on, get these again. i have the 285s.

I have had mine since 10/05. About 30K and they are still going very strong. I look to get another 10-12 months and 15K or so before I get new shoes (315 MT). They are wearing great (I do not have measurements, but I would guess only half of the useable tread is gone). Zero issues with them. They still do great on ice. Have no idea what they would be like on snow now. They have not been on snow in about 20K miles.

I got 4 of these a few weeks ago in the 285/75R16 - had them siped also. They were a bit slick on ice @ 45 PSI, but at more reasonable pressures they behaved much better. I was up in the mou8ntains the last two weekends volunteering with the forest service for the christmas tree cutting and they did great - but I didn't do anything to challenge them to much either. Only 2" to 3" of snow so far.

They are very quiet - I think the siping is supposed to help with this also. The first time I drove them my first thought was "where is all this wind noise coming from?" Didn't notice it before because of the tire noise - which I didn't think was bad at the time. Previous tires wre Yokohoma AT

Has anyone had the opportunity to run the Silent Armor's vs. LTX M&S's? I'd be interested to hear how they compare.

what a timely post. i was just looking at these at the tire shop last weekend. this is definitely going to be my tire... in 35s

I run these tires on my DD Tundra and will get another set when they wear out. I use them offroad at work and have put almost 40k miles on them in just over a year. I run 33's and they still have 50% tread left.
