Hello fellow cruiser heads!

People over in the 80 series forum have long pined for a way to get Factory Service Manuals (and other documents) off of the TIS system and onto their computers in an organized fashion.

I decided to have a stab at it since I have some programming experience, and I am happy to report that I can now produce downloaders for all toyota vehicles, including the FJ-100.

Head over to this thread and read from that post downwards, you'll get a better picture of what I'm talking about, as well as usage instructions. Also, please do give me feedback about how the process went and how usable you find the structure. I'll hopefully be making improvements based on user input as more people start to use this method.

The first FJ-100 package I have created is for the 2000 Toyota Landcruiser Repair Manual, it is available here but please be sure you read the
instructions before you try to do anything!

Enjoy guys, and let me know how it works out!

Sounds good, it's not a lot of fun downloading 1400 files clicking every one. Is there any chance that this could somehow wory on the european techinfo site?

Is that site http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/ ?

I haven't ever seen and explored it, but I supposed if there is a structure to the site I can break it down and do the same thing...

Very nice NaterGator. I downloaded the 2000 LC manual but remembered I had a 2001 LC after the fact. As a result, can you modify your script to work for the 2001 LC manual? This would be TREMENDOUSLY appreciated. If you can do today, I will record the whole process so you can have an online video of the instructions tonight. I will be away from the computer for a few days and will not be able to do anything till middle of next week.

Thanks again...

You know, if any of you guys would *happen* to post the FSM on yousendit, or some other downloading site, im sure many of us would GREATLY appreciate it :D

Nater.. this is awesome... I was just looking today at buying the FSM or TIS subscription for repairs I'd like to attempt.. any chance for a 98 LX????

Very nice, NaterGator. I will make the movie and upload to a yousendit or something like that tonight. I will include instructions to download and view. If I can get it online tonight and post a link, I will.

Thanks again,

Nater, can you zip '98 LC package when you have a chance?

Thanks much.

1999 LC please. ;)

Head on over if you made a request, you should find it there now ;p

Enjoy

Do you have to buy a TIS subsription to download PDF's? Read the post...is kinda late, maybe I am just not seeing it...

Yes, you must purchase a TIS subscription, at least one day, to get the PDFs. A 80 series member emailed toyota and asked if they mind that we save the PDFs to our computers locally. Their reply basically said that it was our prerogative but that we had to ensure we were the only ones using them once saved to honor the copyright.

So, I want to make it clear that I do not want to see any copies of the PDFs circulating the internet anywhere. If I see any copies I will pull down the system and all downloaders immediately until further notice.

Happy downloading, and request a doc if you want it!:beer:

Nater, Just tried this but had a problem... techinfo didn't "drop" an SMSESSION cookie.... Did get some cookies but not that one... tried using what it gave and did run through a dos program but nothing downloaded/saved??
Will try it again... probably me!!!

TMILL what browser are you using?

NaterGator,

I am sorry for the delay in getting the movie up, I have had some unexpected events take place that I have to deal with.

I have the movie completed and am cleaning it up when I get some spare moments. I will try to upload to Google and provide a link in the next couple of hours. Again, sorry for the delay.

By the way, I would recommend that you use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE. It is a better overall browser...

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thanks much for your efforts - can you add a 2002 LC to the downloader when you get a chance.

jkelly,

I updated the thread listing with the 2002 LC repair manual, let me know how it goes.
