JBA titanium ceramic coated headers, JBA exhaust, and URD short throw shifter just arrived in the mail!!! As I've said before, i'm not confident doing any installations as I am a novice to the world of mods. I was plannign to have a local shop do the installations because I figured the dealer would be less experienced at this work and far more expensive. I had new tires installed, and the kid overtorqued the lugnuts and snapped a stud. While at the dealer I told them about the mods I am plannig to do and just out of curiosity I asked them for a price quote on the installation. I'm also adding a fab fours front bumper with warn 9.5ti winch, Warn rear bumper, and OME heavy duty front and medium rear lift. Here are the prices they gave me:

Headers and exhaust - $316
URD shifter - $79
Front bumper and winch - $158
Rear bumper - $79
OME lift - $237

This seems like a really good deal to me considering I just got off the phone with an installation tech at Man-A-Fre and got the following price quote for the same work:

headers/exhaust - $850 (possibly more as they have never done this install)
Lift - $425
front bumper - $510
(forgot to ask about shifter and rear bumper)

Anyhow, does this sound too good to be true?

i dont understand how the dealer, or any shop for that matter, could do the installs for that price. it seems like they have underestimated all the jobs. the important thing is to have the job done right. i know from experience that the mods that youre suggesting take more time they are quoting you for.
good luck

To be honest, I don't understand how they are doing it for those prices either. Good thing I got the price quotes in writing! Everything but the headers are simple swap out bolt on installs. The headers, however, require some cutting and welding...The guys at URD told me that this is a 6-8 hour job. The URD techs (I also spoke to the owner of the company) Said that if the dealer tech is an experienced welder (which he is) there should be no problem. Also, the guys at the dealer here are good about standing behind their work. If there is a problem, it is on them to fix it. The URD guys told me to go ahead and let them do it (they were just suprised that a dealer would agree to do this job). I dropped the truck off this morning and i'm picking it up this afternoon. The front and rear bumpers and winch arrived this morning, but I'm not going to have them installed untill the OME lift arrives in about a week. I don't think the truck would handel very well with all that extra weight on the stock suspension. I'll post about how things turn out and what I think about the performance with the new mods.

by the way, when I told the owner of URD what Man-A-Fre was charging for the header install, he about s**t his undies. He said 850 was WAY overpriced for that job. Strange considering MAF is usually the cheapest source for parts I can find. Go figure.

install the exhaust yourself, then you'll build enough confidence to do other simple bolt-ons like the shifter. I'd get the headers done professionally though,.

sounds like youre in good hands at a great price. headers have always made a nice sound and power improvement, whether its a 4 cyl toyota or a small block chevy and of course a 4.0 V6.
do you have an upgraded air intake to help with better breathing to accompany the free flowing exhaust?

Well, they did a great job on the installation of the headers, exhaust, and short throw shifter. And they didn't charge me a penny over the estimate. I am really happy with the upgrades. My truck feels and sounds awesome. With the TRD CAI, headders, and exhaust there is a very noticable gain in performance over the stock setup. The URD shifter is very crisp and cuts the throw distance almost in half! My dealer has a life long customer in me. You can't beat good work at a great price. This week they are installing the fabfours front and warn rear bumpers, OME lift, 9.5ti winch, and budbuilt front skidplate. They will also be doing the Safari snorkel install for me when it arrives in late november. I can't wait to hit the trails this comming weekend!

Yes underthehood, I'm running the TRD Cold Air intake. She is breathing free and easy.
