Newbie question here, but I'm wondering if this seems like a good deal:

'89 FJ62, 3" lift, nice interior/exterior shape, no rust. New tranny, new AC, heater, and several other recent repairs. Engine has 207,000.

Asking $11K for it... I'm wanting to buy this for a regular around town commuter.

Thanks for any advice.

I'm thinking it's too high as well, but I'm sorta new to cruisers. Here's the description:

brand new factory transmission with 2 year warranty
- new heater core
- new AC
- new AM/FM/CD... XM-Radio!
- super clean interior
- complete records since 1989, no collisions
- custom lift kit (though not very high at all) valued at 3K
- new wipers, new antenna, new all weather floor mats
- color is champagne
- power windows, locks and mirrors, etc

first off, what kind of lift costs $3,000? The OME lift is about the most expensive and it's around $1,500. Maybe he means with install labor. As a point of reference for you, last year I bought an 88 FJ62, rust-free, overall good interior (but not pristine)...truck runs great and has 250k on the clock. I paid $1,000 for it...granted I was lucky and bought it from someone who did'nt know what they had, but they are out there.

From what you are describing, I personally wouldnt pay anything north of $5,000 for that truck. Good luck and happy shopping

i just bought mine 88 fj62 for 2 thousand lockers extend shackles full confer roof rack highlift jack hella 4000 lights, snorkle k&n filter all kinds of little s*** and a set of bald tires that just pulled a new ruby and snapped his front end all to s***:bounce2: and i hear all of this good stuff about ruby

WAAAAYYYY too high. By way of trying to impress you, his lift is overpriced by at least 200 per cent. You can buy XM system for 39.oo at best buy, or thirty bucks online. 207k puts the truck in the 4500 dollar range. New heater core and a/c...new heater core can certainly indicate the cooling system wasn't properly cared for, may need radiator as well, and may have been overheated leading to other problems. I like the champagne, would give no credence or credit to the freaking wipers, mats, etc. Good God, is nothing considered normal maintenance and upkeep anymore? "Custom" lift kit indicates something homeade to me...details? Look man, there's all kinds of trucks out there for that price, including many 80 series and probably the odd 100 with high miles or damage history. This may be outstanding in your part of the country, but it'd just be another average truck in Tx, bringing me back to 4500. Oh, and about 80 percent or more came with the power options, I wouldn't give any extra for them, but would deduct heavily if it didn't have em. FWIW

It doesn't sound like a great deal, but it isn't necessarily a bad deal. Many folks will tell you about the great deal they got, but my car shopping experience has never been as good as what everyone else says. You can look at a lot of crappy cars before you find the on that is what you want.

If it is truly rust free, original paint, and mechanically sound, the right color, has not been undesireably modified, and you trust the seller (important), then make an offer.
