Going in for a service visit this weekend on my 2006 to get some minor things looked at. It has 6500 miles on it and I have done the oil change. I was wondering if any of you know of TSB’s for the newer model that I can point their attention too. Othewise, I don’t think they would bring it to my attention if I’m not complaining about anything.

Here’s what I’m having them look at:

Ticking sound when steering wheel moves off center (sounds like a relay or something and is very annoying). Only while driving, not stopped.

Headliner is separating from roof just behind sunroof opening.

My wheels are chipped from the factory weights. I noticed this after I had new tires put on. I’ll chip my own wheels thank you!

Intermittent Bluetooth. It always disconnects after starting and connecting the first time. Again, very annoying and always happens. Haven’t done the hack mod.

Buzz in my shift plate at high RPM’s.

Lot’s of heat ticking from underneath. Someone has already said this is normal, but why on the LC? I don’t notice this (as severe) on other vehicles.

A/C seems to have a mind of it’s own. The air will blow hard and soft and I’m not sure if this is because the desired temp is close to the setting or has something to do with engine RPM. Does it Auto and self controlled modes. Also, at times when it is on Re-circ and blowing at maximum, it will revert to outside air but not change the at the led indicators.

Foot pad is loose under steering wheel.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

After owning a 99 for a number of years, I bought an 06 last week from a local dealer in VA. The General Manager was driving it around, so it had 5,500 miles on it when I bought it. I can't comment on the items you listed, except for the AC, it does have a mind of it's own. The other items I haven't experienced them, but then again I have put only 500 miles on it.

Good luck with the service visit.

Toyota told me today they need to replace my headliner:mad: I am not looking forward to this at all.

They also told me that my wheels will not be replaced by toyota because they believe they were damaged at the tire dealer. Now I have to go back to Les Schwab tire to remedy this. Toyota pointed out that it looks like they used the tire removal machine before they removed the weight on one wheel and put a huge scratch in it. Basically pushing the weight around the rim. All this time I was thinking it was caused by the weight that had been put on originally. Les Schwab also nicked my leather seat when they put my new tires on. There not going to like it when I show up again.

I would at least run the A/C self-test out of the FSM. Unfortunately my FSM is in a box somewhere lost in a move but the test is relatively easy to do. KEY to ASSC position with a combination of A/C control buttons pushed.

Oh yes! I was going to post about this myself - sounds crazy even after the shortest journeys. Its as if there are some little guys under there chucking tiny ball bearings around or something - wild!

Never had a car make so much noise when sitting locked on the driveway!

It is extreme ticking and Toyota said it was caused by the heat shields. Must have something to do with all the HP:)
Anybody out there actually think about removing all of these heat shields?

Toyota checked it and said it was normal adjusting of the fan motor and compressor. Said it helps from burning up the A/C unit. Although, I still question that answer. I will search for this A/C test. thanks

Heater Problem

Unfortunately I don't have the FSM to tell you what if anything the error codes will mean but hopefully the dealer or another mudder will be able to interpret. .

I had a '98 and currently own a 2004. The ticking is completely normal.
