Posted in Chat too, but maybe I'll get a response here.

Has anybody taken the back road from Goblin Valley to Caineville near Capitol Reef? We're headed down there today. It's raining now, but the weather should be clear on Thursday/Friday/Saturday. I don't have lockers, a winch, or a pull pal and won't be traveling with a buddy, not sure if I want to tackle the road or not. I understand there are a couple water crossings.

I have a hi-lift and recovery gear, but that's it.

I know there is a more improved route that is an option that is the coal mine road, but the scenery looks boring from the satellite view, and it looks like a gravel road. The other route that goes down the wash looks pretty cool. It diverges at the coal mine road. The coal mine road goes on top of the plateau, the other goes at the bottom.

Does anybody have any experience with this route?

How about Little Wildhorse canyon? We want to hike it, but the road in is a sandy wash. Not sure how it will be after a day of heavy rains and only a day to dry out. Planning to do that on Friday...unless we can't.
