Did you survive Laura?

Didn’t even rain here.

Goat project is about to get back on track. I got sidetracked but the driveline is all here now and ready to stuff.

Good to hear. I was at the local store yesterday looking for a Anniversary card for Mrs. Wagner and spotted this:

False alarm. Seems the machine shop removed the dowel pins on the flywheel so I’m hosed over this long holiday weekend to work on the Goat.

Sidelined over $5 in parts

I'm digging the way you are going with the Goat. It's definitely helping me make my mind up with what to do with my LPB.

P.S. - Love the pics you catch of Red. Reminds me of a song ;)

Thanks my man. I’m close to getting back in this. The parts I’m missing Land DHL in Wednesday.
Poor girl is in the corner for now.

Red made me chicken and waffles though

Find a new machine shop. The 2F flywheel needs to be surfaced on both steps or the clearances will be wrong for the clutch. They are likely using a brake lathe and not a proper surfacing machine. You may need to search for an old school machine shop.

That’s truly new to me and I’ve been doing these things for 20 plus years. I just looked and sure enough there is a place to machine there. Never done it and never had an issue

Got the Goat back in place for some work this week. Hope I can tuck the motor in at the end of the week

Got a ride from the oL Milk Jug

Not sure who suggested the 70 series pickup tire bed mount but I finally got around to installing the one Dan Martz sent me from Canada.

I had to space it up for the bigger tire. Instead of 4 holes I had to drill 6. It’s designed for the 3rd row down to be in a groove on the bed but with the tall tire I had to move it up.

6 M8 rivnuts and it’s quite secure. If I had a do-over I would have done plain bolts and nuts on the top row for added strength since they are easy to get to from the back

Slick AF

Will it work without doing it? Yes. An issue that would concern me is that the brake lathe may take more material off than necessary and reduce the step height significantly, which would cause issues with clutch disengagement and premature wear.

Toyota designed the flywheel that way to provide the necessary clutch clearance and tolerances. I've had 4 done in the past 2 months and it only costs $40 from an old school machine shop that knows what they are doing. You should have no trouble finding one in your neck of the woods.

Curious...I noticed your rear view mirror in one of the pics.....is that original ? My ‘67 never had one since I owned it, so it’s the first time I’ve ever laid eyes on one.

Mosley Motors sells a simple Walbro in tank pump for his Sniper kits.

I usually use a powersurge setup but in this case, since the tank does not have a return, the in tank pump is best.

I picked my spot as far forward as I could in a place that would not interfere with the tank straps, sending unit float and the bottom of the seat.

Definitely a slick looking tire mount. I suspect I'll have to do something similar when I move up to 235/85-16s as my 235/75-15 spare barely fits in the stock location. Mind sharing where you picked that one up?
